ontinuing the drive to provide better development and civic facilities to the people of Jammu City, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted tour in the Municipal Ward No-31 and 32 and took stock of the ongoing development works of Lairage at Gole Area which is being executed by the Project Division of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The Mayor was accompanied by Parmod Kapahi, Councillor of Ward No-14, Sat Pal Karloopia Councillor Ward No- 32 and S. Sucha Singh, Councillor of Ward No- 31, besides Mohit Mahajan Executive Engineer, Janak Singh Saini Assistant Executive Engineer, Mohit Gupta Junior Engineer Project Division and S. Harvinder Singh Assistant Executive Engineer (Mech) of JMC.
Mayor was apprised by the Engineering Wing that this project was being constructed at the estimate cost of Rs one core twenty four lakh only on around 5 kanals of Municipal Land having Main Hall alongwith Veterinary Doctors Room, Dispensary, Segregation Room for segregation of animals as well as other requisite facilities and half of the development works have been completed which was delayed due to nationwide lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor went round the whole complex and reviewed the said development activities. He told the engineers that this is a prestigious Project of Jammu Municipal Corporation and directed them to complete the work by engaging more labourers keeping in view the proper social distancing within the stipulated time period. He further told that after completion of Lairage Project, the sheep / goats may be rested here during transit to market or slaughter houses after proper segregation of sick and healthy animals by the well qualified Veterinary Doctors.
During the round, Mayor observed that large number of scraps and unused / damaged vehicles were lying scattered at the site creating shabby and unhealthy atmosphere. He took serious view of the condition and directed the Assistant Executive Engineer (Mech) JMC to take necessary measures and get the scraps auctioned accordingly. He also appealed the general public to come forward and co-operate with JMC in various development activities being undertaken by the department. He advised people to not to throw garbage, filth, polythene etc on the public lanes, drains and nallahs.
