Sixteen pregnant women were among the 90 more people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Kashmir on Sunday taking the total tally of active number of cases to 1111 in the valley, even as after two-and-a-half-month-long spell of strict restriction, this summer capital is ready to witness a number of relaxations in the lockdown from Monday.

22 travelers were among the 90 new cases taking the total infections in Valley to 1943, even as 16 people recovered and were discharged from the different hospitals in Kashmir.
Among the fresh cases, 24 are from Anantnag, 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Baramulla, 10 from Kupwara, 11 from Budgam, 8 from Srinagar, 3 from Pulwama, and 2 from Shopian.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura told The News Now that as many as 21 samples returned positive out of the 723 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab which included 11 from Kupwara, 7 from Srinagar, 3 from Anantnag and one from Shopian.

He informed that in Srinagar, a 39-year-old male, a 35-year-old female from Naseem Bagh, a four-year-old girl from Habak Hazratbal, a 30-year-old woman from Bemina with travel history to New Delhi, a male and a 6-year-old girl from Natipora both travel history to New Delhi and a 28-year-old male from Bagh-i-Mehtab with a travel history to Uttarakhand were tested positive.

From Kupwara, a 26-year-old man from Avoora travel history to Delhi, two men, 24-year-old and 29-year-old men from Gulgam, a 25-year-old and 22-year-old men from Zurhama with travel history Jaipur, a 32-year-old male from Taratpora, a 55-year-old male from Dardpora and a 48-year-old man from Manzgam with travel history to Uttarakhand were tested positive.

Dr. Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina told The News New that 2 people tested positive at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory out of 384 samples (269 from Budgam and 125 from Srinagar). He informed two positive cases include a 36-year-old man from Ohangam Budgam and a 27-year-old male from Hyderpora Srinagar.

Nodal officer GMC Dr. Salim Khan told The News Now, “510 samples were tested at the Chest Disease Hospital Microbiology Lab out of which 50 returned positive, which included 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Baramulla, 12 from Anantnag, 3 from Pulwama, and one each from Srinagar, Shopian, and Budgam. He added the positive cases include 16 pregnant ladies, 10 from Baramulla, 5 from Kulgam, and one from Anantnag besides an employee (Nursing Orderly in Microbiology) at CD Hospital also tested positive.

As per the details available, from Srinagar, a 53-year-old female, a 30-year-old male from Budgam, a 70-year-old male from Shopian besides three males from Tral Pulwama aged 34, 24, and 45-year-old were tested positive.

In Anantnag, 10 patients from Shalgam Bijibehara were tested positive which included five males aged 80, 37, 66, 35, and 45-year-old besides a minor 7-year-old girl and 4 females aged 42, 15, 13 and 28-year-old were tested positive. Other 2 positive patients from Anantnag include a 70-year-old female from Nowsahra and a 29-year-old female from Srigufwara. From Baramulla, a 25-year-old male from Dangerpora Pattan, 30-year-old female Gutiyar, 22-year-old female from Shahatulpora, a 32-year-old male from Rohama, 25-year-old female from Kaliban, 29-year-old female from Nehalpora Pattan, 25-year-old from Khanpora, a 70-year-old male from Rohama, a 32-year-old male from Gohal Tangpora, a 22-year-old male from Habatengu Bla, a 7-year-old girl from Rohama, a 25-year-old male from Kansipora, 26-year-old female from Rohama, a 55-year-old male from Venkara BLA and 28-year-old from Diver Bla was tested positive.

Besides, a man from Kanchwana, a 30-year-old female from Bugam, a 30-year-old female from Churat, a 10-year-old girl from Churat, a 30-year-old female from Bugam, a 2-year-old girl from Bugam, 25-year-old female from Banimullah, a 70-year-old female from Churat, a 36-year-old male from Bugam from Kulgam were tested positive.

Other patients include a 30-year-old female from KB Pora, a female from Tangmarg, a 16-year-old boy from Malwan, a 25-year-old female from Check Watloo, a 30-year-old female Brazloo Bachro, 32-year-old female from Tangmarg, a 25-year-old female from Kulgam and a 44-year-old male from Chattabal Kulgam were tested positive.

Moreover, 10 people from Srinagar, 3 from Kulgam and one each from Kupwara, Baramulla, and Pulwama recovered and were discharged from different hospitals in Kashmir. 807 patients have recovered in Kashmir with 144 from Srinagar, 122 from Anantnag, 134 from Bandipora, 108 from Shopian, 75 from Kupwara, 61 from Budgam, 26 from Kulgam, 103 from Baramulla, 13 from Pulwama, and 24 from Ganderbal.

Moreover, the first two Special Security Group (SSG) personnel has tested positive which included one from Soura Srinagar and others from Bandipora district. As per the reports, samples of eight SSG commandos were taken on May 27 and their results returned on May 29.

An official said that both the personnel were from red zone areas and could not the services. And, when the joined the duties, they were quarantined as per the protocol and their samples were sent which returned positive. And, accordingly, they have been shifted to hospital.

Meanwhile, after assessing the ground situation and holding discussion with stakeholders, the Srinagar administration on Sunday extended partial relaxations including e-commerce as well courier services, opening the trades dealing in essential commodities and allowing wedding ceremonies with more than 30 persons.

However, the relaxations are valid till June 8.

The administration has also made mask-wearing mandatory at every place and warned strict action against violators under law. As per an order issued by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary, E-Commerce & Courier Services, wedding ceremonies with more than 30 members are permitted dependent on the Zones as well as prior permission of the administration.

“The Handloom & Handicrafts home workshops are allowed with 5 workers. Similarly, agriculture, horticulture & allied farm activities are permitted, and so are the Rural Development and Panchayat works as per SOP,” reads the order.

The administration also permitted the opening of essential shops including grocery, fruits and vegetable shops.

“30% of shops will be open on the pre-devised roster by market associations in consultation with Zonal Committees from 11 am to 5 pm except for Red and Containment Zones,” reads the order.

“The machine repair workshops with maximum are permitted with 5 workers while self-employed technicians like electricians, plumbers and AC repair are permitted on duty,’ the order reveals.

The administration has allowed the opening of diagnostic labs in all zones with 30 per cent staff strength along with SHGs engaged in making protective products etc.
“IT & ITES Companies are allowed to operate with 33% staff on the production of passes,” reads the order. The administration also permitted construction activities with the provision of labour stay on the site.

"Whereas, restrictions u/s 144 CrPC and provisions of The Disaster Management Act arr in place as a part of COVID containment measures; in view of above referred orders issued by the State Disaster Management Authority, the existing restrictions are extended, by virtue of powers vested in me u/s 144 CrPC and The Disaster Management Act , upto June 8th 2020" reads the order issued by Deputy Commisoner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
