Man tests positive five days after death; 139 fresh cases

A person died of Covid-19 and 139 others tested positive for coronavirus taking the total caseload in J&K to 2,857 on Tuesday. There were 26 pregnant women and four doctors among them.

A man (86) of north Kashmir’s Pattan sub-district, who died five days ago, was declared positive for the virus today. So far, 34 persons have died of the virus in Jammu and Kashmir — 30 in Kashmir and four in Jammu.

“In the UT, 139 new positive cases have been reported since our last update on Tuesday, which include 30 from Jammu and 109 from Kashmir,” reads the media bulletin on coronavirus, which reported the Covid-19 death as well.

As many as 54 Covid patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals of the UT.

The official bulletin said out of the 139 positive cases, 27 were reported from Baramulla, followed by Shopian 24, Srinagar 14, Pulwama 13, Jammu and Poonch 10 each, Bandipora 9, Budgam 6, Rajouri 4, Ganderbal, Udhampur, and Samba three each, Kulgam 2, and Anantnag one. Among them 26 pregnant women and four doctors have been infected of the virus.

A majority of the coronavirus cases have been reported from Kashmir (2,185), and Jammu 672.
