The government on Monday accorded sanction to the re-constitution of a High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC), comprising senior officers for implementation of �Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS)� Scheme in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The new Committee would comprise of Chief Secretary, J&K as its Chairman while Administrative Secretaries of Finance Department, Information Technology Department and Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, representative from Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, GoI, and Director General, Planning, Marketing & Concurrent Evaluation (PM&CE), Planning, Development & Monitoring Department as its members, and Director General, Economics & Statistics, J&K as Member Secretary.

The terms of reference of the Committee shall be to consider and recommend the project report on �Support for Statistical and Strengthening (SSS)� for approval by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India; to oversee the implementation and monitoring of the SSS Plan in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and to issue necessary guidelines/instructions to the line departments associated with Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for extending full cooperation to the Nodal Officers/Agencies.
