Former Pakistan batting coach Grant Flower has made some shocking revelations from his stint with the Men in Green. Flower recalled how former Pakistan skipper and one of the batting greats from the country, Younis Khan had held a knife to his throat on receiving some batting advice from the coach. Khan was not too impressed with Flower's suggestions and lost his cool.

Flower, who served as the head coach of the Pakistan team from 2014 to 2019, and his brother Andy were recently hosted by Neil Manthorp on the 'Following On Cricket Podcast'. Flower shared his experience of working as a batting coach of the Pakistan national team and remembered Younis when asked about the tricky characters in the dressing room.

Recalling the incident which took place in Brisbane during a series between Pakistan and Australia, Flower revealed ex-Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur had to intervene and calm Younis down after he put a knife on his throat.

"Younis Khan quite tough to master. I remember one incident in Brisbane, during the Test, at breakfast, I tried to give him a bit of batting advice ... But he didn't take kindly to my advice and brought a knife to my throat, with Mickey Arthur sitting alongside, who had to intervene," said Flower on 'Following On Cricket Podcast'.

"Yeah, it's been interesting. But that's part of coaching. It makes it a hell of a journey, and I've really enjoyed it. I've still got a lot to learn, but I'm very fortunate to be in the position I am," Flower, who is now working as Sri Lanka's batting coach, added.

Interestingly, Younis will now be donning Flower's hat after being appointed as the batting coach of Pakistan team for their tour of England. Younis will be working alongside head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis. The 42-year-old, who played 118 Tests and 265 ODIs for Pakistan, amassing over 17,000 runs across formats, is yet to respond to Flower's claims.
