Following the inauguration of various municipal services in digitized mode a few days back, Jammu Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Poornima Sharma today called a press conference to explain the functioning and use of the applications and services.
Poornima explained in front of the media fraternity the benefits and functioning of Command & Control Centre, GPS based Vehicle Tracking Management System and other IT applications e-launched by the Lt. Governor the other day.
The other services launched included image-based mobile application for attendance of field employees, and Building Construction mobile application for Real Time Monitoring of activities undertaken by the Corporation.
Poornima Sharma said that Furnished with professional modular equipment, the Command & Control Centre has been equipped with industrial grade cybersecurity. The centre will also serve as a base for backend functioning & monitoring of GPS based Vehicular Tracking Management System App, GPS/ Image-based e-Attendance App for field staff of corporation and Building Construction Monitoring App and gradually for future IT-related initiatives of the corporation.
Deputy Mayor said that these initiatives by the corporation will bring efficiency in operations as 126 vehicles have been outsourced by the corporation for the door to door collection of garbage while another fleet of 142 vehicles is working on secondary transportation of the city�s garbage. The GPS based VTMS helps in tracking the sanitation vehicles hours, location, and area of operation. The system will provide a digital log book and report of the daily area covered.
Poornima Sharma further said that an app has been launched under the name Building Construction Monitoring App which will help in uploading and mapping of approved building plans, ward-wise mapping of Enforcement Inspectors, e-Reporting of violations in approved building plans and case-wise progression of plans. She further added an e-attendance app has been launched for ensuring the working of Field Employees including Sanitary supervisors, Skc�s, etc with the help of which location of the employee in different wards can be checked and confirmed during the working hours to ensure efficiency and the employee will be accountable if they are not present at the area of posting during the working hours as the application will be sending the location of the employee from time to time to the Control Centre at JMC. The e-Attendance App will help keep track of employees thereby resulting in improved manpower handling.
Also land at Bhagwati Nagar which was used as Dumping Ground for wastes since the past 40 years, will be cleared as bio-mining/bioremediation of legacy waste at Bhagwati Nagar was launched by JMC in which 1.48 cubic meters of land will be cleared within a duration of 18 months and the amount allotted for the project is 6.84 Crs. The land after being cleared can then be reused for new developmental projects.
Under the smart city project, there are 2 vocational courses which are free of cost, one is non-technical and the other is technical in which 250 individuals per year will be certified by NSDC. There will be 3 batches of 80 individuals for a period of 3 months and 100% placement is guaranteed.
Poornima Sharma said it�s a great step as it will encourage transparency and accountability in JMC and thanked the media persons for attending the press conference as they are the medium through which the public is made aware of all the important happening in day to day life.
