Kia Motors India has just announced that the Sonet will be launched on September 18. The Sonet is Kia�s third model in India after the Seltos and Carnival. Pre-launch bookings are already open. The Sonet racked up more than 6,500 bookings on the first day itself. Expect a starting price of around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Kia Sonet's official performance and fuel efficiency figures have been revealed ahead of its launch. A leaked brochure reveals that the Sonet will be offered in a total of six variants within the Tech Line and GT Line trims: : HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+.

Notable design bits include Kia�s traditional �Tiger Nose� grille coupled with LED headlights and LED DRLs, LED taillamps and 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels. It borrows the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and steering wheel from the Seltos. Equipment list includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO connected car tech, wireless charging and a Bose 7-speaker sound system. Under the hood, the Sonet will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options with upto five transmission combinations to choose from.

Expect prices to start from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Sonet Specifications
The Kia Sonet will come with three engine options: a 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, a 120PS 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 100PS 1.5-litre diesel engine. All three variants are offered with a manual transmission while the diesel and turbo-petrol engine option also comes with an automatic gearbox. The diesel engine utilises a proper 6-speed torque converter unlike its rivals which come with an AMT. You can also the Sonet turbo-petrol with a clutchless manual gearbox.
Sonet Variants
Kia will offer the Sonet in two broad trims: HT Line and GT Line. The former takes a more elegant approach to its design while the latter adds a dose of sportiness with plenty of red inserts and GT Line badging inside-out.

Notable features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, UVO connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose sound system with a subwoofer, climate control, cruise control, a coloured-multi-info display, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic headlamps and keyless entry with push button start. On the safety front, it features six airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with a rear view camera.

The Kia Sonet locks horns with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and the upcoming Nissan Magniet.
