Lt-Governor Manoj Sinha : Hassle-free public service delivery in J&K our prime focus

Lt-Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday observed that people-centric and good governance with smooth public service delivery was the prime focus of the UT Government. The L-G was on his visit to Udhampur district where he reviewed progress of the development activities being carried out in the district and interacted with scores of public delegations to take stock of their issues. The L-G also e-inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 23.40 cr and laid the e-foundation for projects of water supply schemes. He was accompanied by BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mukesh Singh, IGP, Jammu, HoDs of various departments and other senior officers. Reiterating the government�s commitment for prompt redressal of people grievances, the L-G directed the officers concerned to take comprehensive measures to improve the public service delivery and adopt proactive approach. Laying special focus on the saturation of schemes run by the Central and the UT Government, the L-G directed the officers concerned to take all requisite measures to ensure 100 per cent coverage of eligible beneficiaries under the Centrally sponsored & individual beneficiary oriented schemes being implemented in J&K. For ensuring saturation of various beneficiary oriented schemes, the L-G directed the officers concerned to roll out a comprehensive mechanism to take the benefit of Jan Abhiyan programme for mass contact, which is being held from September 10 to September 30. He also set September 30 as a deadline for 100 per cent Aadhaar seeding of ration cards and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) registrations, besides directing for the mandatory payment under MGNREGA within 15 days. He also directed maintenance of inventory and asset register in each panchayat for record. On noticing delays in the completion of some projects, the L-G directed the officers concerned and the executing agencies to expedite important projects so as to meet the fixed timelines. While reviewing the status of the Udhampur-Chenani NH-44, the L-G asked the officers to take necessary measures to remove bottlenecks for the timely completion of the project.
Dr Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, gave a detailed presentation on the overall developmental scenario of the district.
