EXCLUSIVE: Mahindra Bolero Gets A New Base-spec B2 Variant

The entry-level Bolero B2 is Rs 36,000 more affordable than the earlier base-spec variant, the B4. Being the new base variant, it’s bound to come with the bare essentials only. While Mahindra is yet to reveal the detailed features list, we expect it to come with a power steering and a manual air conditioner only. Since basic safety is mandatory on all cars, it should feature a driver’s side airbag, ABS and rear parking sensors.

Features like an audio system, a multi-info display, power windows, a rear wash and wiper as well as central and remote locking are limited to top-end variants.


There are no changes under the hood as the Bolero B2 continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 75PS of power and 210Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is the only gearbox on offer and the Bolero drives its rear wheels.

The Bolero doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country and is one of Mahindra’s best selling SUVs in the country. Pricewise, it rivals sub-4 metre SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Kia Sonet.
