15-September-2020

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday made a statement in the Parliament on the continuing standoff between Indian and Chinese troops along the LAC in eastern Ladakh. Addressing the Lower House, Singh said China does not "recognise the current boundary. We have been following the customary line that was agreed upon in the 1960s. But China does not agree to this now and says that both sides have different perspectives of this line." His statement came in the backdrop of demands made by the Opposition for a debate on the issue. Singh had met his Chinese counterpart Gen Wei Fenghe in Moscow recently.
