SBI core banking system down due to intermittent connectivity issues; ATMs, PoS working

State Bank of India (SBI), the country's top lender, informed customers on Tuesday (October 13) that its core banking services have been hit. Through a tweet, the lender informed that although the ATMs and POS machines are not affected, intermittent connectivity issues have delayed making core banking system available to customers. The Mumbai-based lender said, "Intermittent connectivity issues have delayed making our core banking system available to our esteemed customers today (13.10.20)'. All channels (except ATMs and POS machines) will be affected. The bank further added, "We regret the inconvenience caused and request you to bear with us. We request our customers to bear with us. Normal service will resume soon." Earlier in the day, several customers of State Bank of India faced issues while conducting online transactions. In response to complaints and queries by customers on social media platforms, SBI tweeted, "Intermittent connectivity issues have delayed making our core banking system available to our esteemed customers today. We hope to be able to serve you normally before noon." Before SBI issued the notice, many customers took to the micro-blogging website Twitter, notifying the bank about the glitch. SBI YONO app users were also unable to access their accounts. In response to the bank's tweet, a user said, "Instead of posting on twitter this important notice should have been sent to all customers through SMS," one user wrote. Some customer also complained about bank's late response saying, "Late response, but, good to know it now. Suffered a lot." Note that last week, SBI has informed its customers that its Yono app will be under maintenance for two days. In a tweet, country's top lender said "YONO SBI will be under maintenance on 11th and 13th October from 12am to 4am. We request our customers to plan their banking needs accordingly and use our Internet Banking service to avoid any inconvenience."
