Coronavirus cases in India crossed the 75-lakh lakh on Monday morning as the country detected 55,722 fresh Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours. In a single day, 579 coronavirus positive patients succumbed to the Covid-19 infection, according to the Health Ministry data updated on Monday morning. With an increase of 55,772 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, India's total Covid-19 tally has climbed to 75,50,273. India has also seen a dip of 11,256 in its active cases since Sunday. As of Monday morning, there are 7,72,055 active cases of coronavirus in India. Since the pandemic began in India and of the 75,50,273 coronavirus cases, 66,63,608 have recovered from the infection. So far, 1,14,610 people have died from the coronavirus, a rise of 579 since Sunday. Maintaining a "steady declining trend", the number of active coronavirus cases in India stayed below eight lakh for the third consecutive day. India stood second behind the US in terms of total cases of coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University, which publishes coronavirus statistics from across the globe. Also, the country is in the pole position in terms of the number of recovered cases and third in terms of fatalities globally behind the US and Brazil.
