Amazon Web Services will invest $2.77 billion in Telangana for data centres

6-Nov-2020

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) will set up an AWS Region with three Availability Zones (AZs) in Hyderabad, Telangana, the IT service management company announced on Friday. The AWS is set to establish data centres at three locations with an overall estimated capital investment of approximately $2.77 billion (Rs 2,0761 crore). The AWS Asia Pacific region in Hyderabad is likely to start operations by mid of 2022. The AZs consist of multiple data centres in distinct locations within a single region that are engineered to be operationally independent of one another with independent power, cooling, physical security, and connections via a low-latency network. On Friday, state IT minister KT Rama Rao tweeted, Happy to announce the largest FDI in the history of Telangana! After a series of meetings, AWS has finalised an investment of 20,761 crore ($ 2.77 billion) to set up multiple data centres in Telangana. The @AWSCloud Hyderabad Region is expected to be launched by mid 2022. #HappeningHyderabad. The minister for ITE&C, I&C, and MA&UD, had a meeting with officials from the AWS during their Davos visit earlier this year. The investment from AWS will position Telangana in one of the preferred destinations for other companies planning to set up data centres in the future, said the state government.
