Delhi Polices Special Cell interrogates truck driver, cleaner for helping terrorists in Nagrota enounter

24-Nov-2020

Delhi Police's Special Cell has received input that the truck driver and cleaner who were involved in Nagrotra terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir were conniving with terrorists. The two were picked up from Delhi and interrogated but were handed over to their family since nothing was found during questioning, sources said. Four terrorists affiliated with Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were neutralised on November 19 in the Nagrota encounter. They infiltrated into India from the Samba Sector on November 18-19 to carry out a Pulwama-scale terror strike under the orders of Maulana Masood Azhars brother Abdul Rauf Asgar, and commissioned by Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence. The encounter broke out after a truck was intercepted during a routine check in the morning. Mukesh Singh, Inspector-General of Police, Jammu Zone, had said that the driver of the truck fled from the incident site. "During the search, CRPF soldiers and police were fired upon using heavy ammunition, and grenades were also lobbed. More forces were called in and the encounter went on for 3 hours," the IG said. The DDC elections will be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir in eight phases between November 28 and December 19, and the counting of votes will take place on December 22. Notably, India has briefed a select group of head of missions about Pakistan's direct role in planning the terror attack. They were provided with a detailed information docket giving details of the incident as it transpired as well as a list of items and ammunition that was recovered from terrorists clearly indicating their Pakistani origins. "It was pointed out how the incident of November 19 is part of Pakistan's ongoing terror campaign in Jammu and Kashmir and that in 2020 itself we have seen 200 incidents of terrorist violence and neutralization of 199 terrorists. Details of JeM's involvement in previous such incidents were also shared," a source said.
