Mumbai loses over 900 lives to suicide within 11 months, total rate shows decline of 14%

Over 900 people living in Mumbai ended their lives by suicide between January and November this year. The data released by the Mumbai Police revealed that the number of suicides fell by 14 per cent this year. According to the data, the people aged between 19-30 years comprised the majority of the numbers while 10 per cent of the people were senior citizens. The data revealed that 371 people took the drastic step when a complete lockdown was imposed in the city. However, the total number of deaths this year- 928- were 14 per cent lesser than the total deaths that were recorded at 1,075.
