The residents of the Dubba Tanda village along with Siddipet district authorities in Telangana constructed a temple in honour of Sonu Sood. The 47-year-old actor has been celebrated all across the country for the humanitarian work that he did in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. After being informed about the temple, Sonu Sood was touched and responded in a post on Twitter. An idol of Sonu Sood has been installed in the temple that was inaugurated on December 20 in the presence of the sculptor and locals of the village, news agency reports. Women dressed up in traditional attire and performed aarti, and also sang folk songs in honour of Sonu Sood. "As he has attained the place of God by his good deeds, we have built a temple for Sonu Sood. He is a God for us," Giri Kondal Reddy, a Zilla Parishad member, told news agency. Ramesh Kumar, who was part of a group that planned the temple, said that prayers will be offered to Sonu Sood in the temple. "The way Sonu Sood has been helping people since the lockdown due to the pandemic has not just been recognized by India but the world. He received SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations. So, on behalf of our village, we decided to build a temple for him. Like Gods, prayers will be offered to Sonu Sood too," he said. Madhusudan Pal, the sculptor, added, "The actor has made a place in people's hearts with his helpful nature. I have also created a small idol of him as a gift for him."
