Countries that have banned travel from UK; India also joins the list

European nations, along with some beyond the continent, have begun to restrict travel from the United Kingdom after it reported an �out of control� coronavirus variant.

Reportedly, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy have already announced suspension of flights. The measures that have been taken by various countries vary, and are short-term as of now.

Reportedly, the new variant of the virus has spread quickly in London and south-east England. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on Saturday, introduced a new four tier level of restrictions for those contaminated areas.

As of now, these countries have already blocked travel from the UK.

* Netherlands: Just hours after the UK made that announcement, the Netherlands announced that it will ban all passenger flights till January 1. It also announced that it would bar ferry passengers arriving from the United Kingdom.
* India also suspended all flights to and from the UK till December 31.
* France has gone ahead and suspended all travel links, including freight lorries, with the UK for 48 hours from midnight on Sunday.
* Germany will be halting all air links with the United Kingdom from midnight on Sunday. The ban will initially remain in place till December 31, Health Minister Jens Spahn said.
* Italy: Likewise, Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza informed that he had signed a decree "which blocks flights from Great Britain and prohibits entry into Italy of people who have stayed there during the last 14 days".
* Ireland also issued a statement that all flights arriving from the United Kingdom from Sunday midnight, and the ban would remain in place for at least 48 hours.
Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canada would ban all UK flights for 72 hours because of the new variant of Covid-19.
* Switzerland announced that it was suspending flights from Sunday midnight until further notice from Britain and South Africa, where a similar virus variant has been detected.
* All three Baltic states � Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania -- have banned all passenger flights from the United Kingdom.
* Bulgaria has suspended flights to and from Britain, which will remain in place until January 31.
* Romania has banned all flights to and from the UK for two weeks; Croatia has temporarily suspended passenger air traffic from the United Kingdom for 48 hours.
* Iran's Health Ministry has ordered suspension of flights from Britain for two weeks.
* Israel said it is barring entry to foreign citizens travelling from Denmark, Britain, and South Africa.
* Saudi Arabia announced that it was suspending all flights and entry through its seaports and land for at least a week, which will likely be extended further for a week.
* Kuwait has also banned flights from Britain, and added it to a list of �high-risk� nations.
* El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele stated that anyone, who had been in Britain or South Africa, in the past 30 days will be barred from entering the country.
