Maharashtra night curfew: Passengers allowed to travel to and from Mumbai airport
24-December-2020

The Maharashtra state government recently imposed night curfew in the wake of the recent spike in the COVID-19 cases. As per the reports now, the night curfew will remain in place from 11 PM to 6 AM. However, those who have already booked early morning and late evening flights need not to worry. These passengers will be able to travel to or from the city airport amid the night curfew.

Referring to this, the Mumbai police stated that gathering of five or more people will be prohibited during the night curfew, and those found violating COVID-related rules will have to face stern action.

Referring to the movement of the passengers, a spokesperson from the Mumbai International Airport Ltd stated, Passengers travelling to/ from the airport during the curfew will be allowed to proceed onwards as cab services and public transportation will remain operational at all time. He added that the Mumbai airport is open 24x7, and will continue to remain open during the curfew hours as well.

Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order), informed that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code had also been imposed in an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Maharashtra state government also mandated 14-day institutional quarantine for passengers returning from Europe and the Middle East. To keep the infection under control, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has made wearing of face masks mandatory. Those returning from other nations have also been mandated to self-isolate and undergo home quarantine.
