Rajasthan Congress MLA refuses to take coronavirus vaccine

05-01-2020

Prashant Bairwa, Congress MLA from Niwai in Tonk district of Rajasthan, has said that he will not take the coronavirus vaccine. Just like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Prashant Bairwa, too, said the vaccine is a 'BJP vaccine' and that the saffron party was playing politics over the coronavirus vaccine. Prashant Bairwa, while speaking with India Today TV, questioned why PM Narendra Modi, "who talks about Swadeshi, is not promoting Swadeshi when it comes to the coronavirus vaccine". "When Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about Swadeshi, then why is he not promoting Swadeshi when it comes to the vaccine?" Prashant Bairwa asked. Prashant Bairwa also said it was now the time to lift all restrictions with regard to coronavirus including night curfew because people including those working in the hotel industry, tourism industry, etc., have suffered because of the lockdown. "It is now time that all restrictions imposed due to Coronavirus are lifted because due to these restrictions people have taken a lot of brunt, people in the hotel and tourism industry have suffered a lot," Prashant Bairwa said. Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had termed the anti-Covid vaccine a "vaccine of the BJP" and said he would not take the shot, prompting a sharp reaction not only from the ruling party. Hours later after terming the anti-Covid vaccine as a "vaccine of the BJP", Akhilesh Yadav, however, said in a tweet that he had full faith in scientists but not in the "taali and thali wali" unscientific thinking of the BJP. "How can I trust the vaccine, which will be used for vaccination by the BJP? We cannot get vaccinated by the BJP's vaccine," he told reporters earlier in the day.
