18-Jnauary-2021

The USA has a new rule for international passengers or those wanting to return to the country. According to the new rule, passengers are required to show a negative COVI-19 test results before they can enter the country. US international travellers COVID-19 test result rule will apply from January 26, 2021.

The new rule says that starting January 26, 2021, passengers arriving in the USA in international flights are required to get their PCR or Antigen test taken so that they can show a negative result. The test must be done maximum 72 hours before leaving for the USA. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA has released a press statement laying emphasis on this new rule, further stating that passengers need to continue to wear masks, and maintain physical distancing. Quarantine guidelines must also be followed.

The rule applies to all air passengers who are entering the US, which includes US citizens, and legal permanent residents. It has been stated by the CDC that if any passenger refuses to take the test, the airline reserves all rights to deny boarding to the passengers.

The CDC had earlier introduced this rule only for arrivals from the UK, but now it has been extended globally. It was issued after the new strain of the virus was discovered in the UK. However, the new strain has since been found in other countries such as Denmark, Netherlands, other European countries, and also South Africa. The new strain is supposedly more easily spread.
