Another Andhra shocker: Family sparks tension by performing tantric pujas, threatens suicide when cops arrive

Days after two young sisters were allegedly murdered by their parents in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, in what investigators said appeared to be a case related to superstition, a shocking incident from the state�s Visakhapatnam city, where members of a family allegedly performed tantrik pujas inside their house, leaving locals terrified. As per reports, late Sunday night, local residents in Azimabad area of the city informed patrol cops that one Abdul Aziz (45) and his family members have locked themselves inside their house and were performing tantrik rituals while shouting. The patrol cops decided to inquire, but Aziz and his family members � his wife and daughter and son � prevented them from entering the house. They threatened the cops, saying that they would end their lives by slitting their throats.

Senior officials rush to spot

Following this, the night patrol cops alerted senior officials, who then came rushing to the spot. They tried to persuade the family to let them enter the house, but in vain. Thereafter, the cops broke open the door and entered the house. They found turmeric, lemons and akshitas inside, according to a report by The Times of India. �We broke open the doors and shifted them to the hospital. Doctors are going to decide whether they would be treated here or should shift to a mental care hospital,� the report quoted a senior police officer as saying. Meanwhile, some relatives of the family claimed that Aziz�s mental health deteriorated due to the ongoing pandemic situation and its impact. Local residents, however, said the whole family appears to have psychological issues.
