The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed an FIR against a Bollywood actor for flouting COVID-19 guidelines. The Mumbai civic body registered he FIR against the actor for non-compliance to coronavirus guidelines on testing positive for the contagious disease. While tweeting the copy of the FIR, the BMC said, "No Compromise On City’s Safety! BMC has filed an FIR against a Bollywood actor for non-compliance to COVID19 guidelines on testing positive. The rules apply to all alike and we urge citizens to follow all guidelines and help the city beat the virus." Of late, Maharashtra has been witnessing a steep surge in coronavirus cases. The state recorded 16,620 new COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 23,14,413. Mumbai city on March 14 recorded reported 1,963 new corona cases, Pune city 1,780, Aurangabad city 752, Nanded city 351, Pimpri Chinchwad 806, Amravati city 209 and Nagpur city 1,976. 3,676 people were reported to be found infected with the contagious disease in Mumbai division, 2,776 in Nashik division, 3,609 in Pune division, 1,860 in Nagpur division, 914 in Latur division, 1,289 in Aurangabad division 106 in Kolhapur division. While Mumbai division reported 11 deaths, including seven in Mumbai city. In Maharashtra, the total number of positive corona cases stand at 23,14,413. The state has recorded 21,34,072 recoveries so far. Amid rise in coronavirus cases, lockdown has been imposed from March 15 to 21. In view of surge in COVID-19 cases, the Latur administration has announced to impose night curfew in the district between 8 pm and 5 am from March 15 until further orders. Notably, the union ministry of health and family welfare on March 15 said that five states of Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu continue to report a surge in the COVID daily new cases. They cumulatively account for 78.41 per cent of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
