Sports is the best medium to build camaraderie, brotherhood, character and team spirit. And the events Iike KPPL infuse togetherness, cohesiveness and belongingness among the teams and the communities as well. This was stated by Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner/Additional Chief Secretary J&K while honouring winners and runners-up teams/players on the closing ceremony of the Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL) Edition-III at MA Stadium, here tonight. Dulloo was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Ashok Bhan, former Director General of Police J&K presided over the function and Ranjeet Kalra, Member J&K Sports Council and Member Governing Council on Sports Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was the guest of honour. The KPPL Edition-III was organized by Lalitaditya Education, Sports and Health Organization under the patronage of its president Anil Bhat, Bureau Chief PTI J&K and Vinay Koul, secretary and under the overall supervision of organisers- Ankur Bagati and Ashish Kachroo. Earlier, in the summit clash, 777 Masters drubbed Bharat Cricket Club by 6 wickets in a tough contest under lights. Batting first, Bharat Cricket Club scored a modest total of 123 runs in 19.3 overs. Vishu was the only batter to show some resistance, who scored 31 off 31 balls studded with 4 boundaries.
Skipper Vicky Raina was the pick of the bowlers for 777 Masters, who took 4 wickets by conceding 13 runs in his 4 overs, while Surinder Kachroo bagged 2 wickets. In reply, 777 Masters chased the target in 18.2 overs by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets. Sidharth Bhat scored 47 runs off 48 balls, studded with 7 crispy boundaries, while Vimarsh Kaw contributed 43 off 49 balls with 5 delectable fours. For Bharat Cricket Club Nittu claimed 2 wickets. Vicky Raina was adjudged as the man of the match for his brilliant bowling display, while Rocky Raina, Ritik Raina and Suraj Koul were declared as the best bowler, best fielder and man of the series respectively. Anshul and Vishu got joint best batsman award. Apart from the glittering trophies, the winners and runners-up teams were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and RS 30,000 by the chief guest, respectively. Meanwhile, Sharika Club bagged women’s cricket title by beating Lalitadiya Club. Sharika Club was led by Neha Pandita, while Anshu Dhar Bagati was the captain of Lalitaditya Club. Heena Bhat was declared as the player of the match and Ayushi Ambardar got the player of the tournament award. In the tournament for Kids, Shardha Club won the title by defeating Butanagar in the final. Himanshu and Bhavesh were declared as the most promising players of the tournament.
