The results for the 2023 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) are out and the Kia EV6 has been crowned the 2023 Green Car award winner. The 3rd Green Car award was won by the EV6, ahead of the Tata Tiago EV in first runners-up position and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in second runners-up position. The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) Jury comprises Indian automotive journalists from magazines, publications and other media houses, including the Auto Today magazine. For 2023, the ICOTY Jury has 18 journalist. Each jury member tests these cars and has a total of 25 points to award in total. No car can be awarded more than 10 points by a jury member, with the 25 points to be divided amongst five of the contenders with one clear winner. The contenders for the 2023 Green Car award comprised of the BMW i4, BMW iX, Honda City e:HEV, Kia EV6, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mercedes-Benz EQS 580, Mini Cooper SE, Tata Tiago EV, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrder and the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The Kia EV6 is available in two variants, the GT Line RWD and the GT Line AWD. The electric car gets a 229bhp single rear mounted motor or a 325bhp dual-motor AWD setup. The EV6 can launch from 0 to 100kmph in 5.2 seconds (AWD). There is a single battery option, a 77.4kWh unit. This gives the EV6 a single charge WLTP range of 528km (RWD) and 505km (AWD). The Kia EV6 supports DC Fast charging up to 350kW which can fill the battery up from 10 to 80 per cent in 18 minutes.
