Here police have registered an FIR against senior BJP leader and former Karnataka home minister Araga Jnanendra for his comments against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The FIR was registered on Thursday based on a complaint filed by Congress worker Rajiv Jane at the Ashok Nagar police station.
Jnanendra has been booked under IPC Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause a breach of peace) and the case will be transferred to Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, where the incident took place, on Friday, the official said.
A senior BJP MLA referred to the skin color of Kharge and the people of his home district at a rally in Thirthahalli on August 1.
