Karthi Selvam, a local player, scored India's first goal (15 minutes in), followed by goals from vice-captain Hardik Singh (32 minutes), captain Harmanpreet Singh (42 minutes), Gurjant Singh (53 minutes), and Jugraj Singh (54 minutes). India moved to the top of the standings as a result, moving them one step closer to securing a semifinal spot.
India attacked aggressively to start the first period, producing some excellent scoring opportunities. When Selvam was located in the opponent's half-circle by a long ball from Harmanpreet, the hosts ultimately broke the scoreless tie. The child controlled the ball with one touch before launching a shot that went past the Malaysian goalkeeper at the near post.
