Although artificial intelligence systems like ChatGPT are becoming commonplace, doctors are unlikely to adopt them because they lack the skills to interpret and act on them, a study finds.

As in all other fields, doctors will soon begin to see AI tools incorporated into their clinical practice to help them make important decisions in diagnosing and treating common diseases.

These tools, called clinical decision support (CDS) algorithms, can be extremely useful in helping healthcare providers, for example, determine which antibiotics to prescribe or whether to recommend high-risk heart surgery.
