Sensex continues rally on 8th day; Nifty falls marginally after hitting record high

The BSE Sensex continued its rally for the eighth consecutive day on Tuesday, while the Nifty ended marginally lower after hitting a fresh all-time high amid mixed global market trends.
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 94.05 points, or 0.14 percent, to settle at 67,221.13. During the day, it jumped 412.02 points or 0.61 percent to 67,539.10 points.
But the Nifty pared all its gains and fell 3.15 points, or 0.02 percent, to 19,993.20. It rose 114 points, or 0.57 percent, to hit an all-time high of 20,110.35 on the day. Among the Sensex companies, Tata Consultancy Services, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, ICICI Bank, Nestle, ITC and Sun Pharma were the top gainers.

The laggards were Power Grid, NTPC, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Mahindra and Mahindra and Reliance Industries.
In Asian markets, Tokyo settled for losses, while Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong fell.
The European market was mixed. US stock markets ended Monday in the positive. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned to buyers on Monday as they bought shares worth Rs 1,473.09 crore, according to stock exchange data.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.74 percent to $91.31 a barrel.
The 30-share BSE benchmark returned to the 67,000 level on Monday. The benchmark index jumped 528.17 points or 0.79 percent and reached 67,127.08 points. The Nifty closed at 19,996.35 points, up 176.40 points or 0.89 percent. Nifty crossed the 20,000 mark for the first time in intraday trade.
