A Supreme Court bench on Thursday recommended the appointment of 11 more judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court as permanent judges. The decision was taken after unanimous recommendations of the High Court Collegium, agreement of the Chief Ministers and Governors of Punjab and Haryana, and a thorough assessment of the suitability of the judges.
Justices Nidhi Gupta, Justice Sanjay Vashisth, Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya, Justice Namit Kumar, Justice Harkesh Manuja, Justice Aman Chaudhary, Justice Naresh Singh Shekhawat, Justice Harsh Bunger, Justice Jagmohan Manpakekokchan, Justice are recommended for permanent appointment.
The bench's decision was based on an extensive evaluation process that included consultation with judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to the decision of the collegium of the Supreme Court of October 26, 2017, the decisions of the additional judges are evaluated by a special commission consisting of two judges. After reviewing all available materials, including the hearing judges' opinions and the report of the Sentencing Review Commission, the panel determined that the 11 additional judges were fit and proper for permanent appointment.
