Actor Akhil Mishra, best known for his role in "3 Idiots," died Wednesday night after collapsing at his apartment, a spokeswoman for his actress wife Suzanne Bernert said. He was 67.
A publicist said Mishra, who had blood pressure problems, died of injuries sustained in an accident in the kitchen.
"He was on a chair in the kitchen trying to do something when he fell and injured his head and back. Later, his family and neighbors took him to the hospital. "He was still stable while in the hospital. Then the internal bleeding started. Despite the doctor's efforts, he could not be saved," a spokesperson told PTI on Thursday.

According to the publisher, Bernert, who is Mishra's second wife, was on the set in Hyderabad when she died.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee took to social media to express his condolences over Mishra's death. "Rest in peace, Akhil Mishra Ji! This is shocking beyond belief! God bless your soul with peace and serenity! Om Shanti," Bajpayee wrote on microblogging site X.

Mostly playing characters in films and television shows, Mishra is best remembered for his role as librarian Dubey in 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi.
He has also worked in films and serials like 'Don', 'Gandhi My Father', 'Uttaran', 'Udaan' and 'Shrimaan Shrimati'.
According to the publisher, Mishra's remains have been sent for postmortem.

The last rites were performed today around 3:30 p.m.
