Tuesday's encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district resulted in the deaths of two terrorists from the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to the police.

After security personnel conducted an anti-militancy operation as a result of information regarding the presence of ultras in the district's Alshipora region, an altercation erupted early on Tuesday morning, according to them.

"Terrorists two dead. search is ongoing. Additional information will be provided, the Kashmir Zone Police stated in a tweet on X.

The death of bank guard Sanjay Sharma earlier this year, according to the authorities, was carried out by one of the dead Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants.

The terrorists who were killed have been identified as LeT members Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq alias Abrar. Abrar, a terrorist, was responsible for the murder of a Kashmiri Pandit.
