
May 29, 2025: To honor the former prime minister's legacy, Modi erected the statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Sangkhola, Gangtok District.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched a number of significant development initiatives in Sikkim and essentially established the groundwork for them. Due to bad weather, the prime minister's planned trip to Sikkim to inaugurate these projects had to be canceled.
Among the initiatives is the new ?750 crore, 500-bed district hospital in Namchi. The PM also officially opened the Passenger Ropeway in Gyalshing District's Sangachoeling, Pelling, which is expected to increase local tourism and connectivity.
PM's trip to West Bengal: Today at 2:15 PM, PM Modi will travel to West Bengal to lay the cornerstone for the City Gas Distribution project in Cooch Behar and Alipurduar.
The project, which will cost more than 1,010 crore, will provide clean fuel to businesses, install 19 CNG stations, and supply piped natural gas to 2.5 lakh households, improving the area's employment and environmental conditions.
PM's travel to Bihar: The PM will visit Bihar later this evening at approximately 5:45 p.m. to officially open the new terminal at Patna airport, which was constructed at a cost of ?1,200 crore and is expected to accommodate one crore people a year.
In order to boost the region's development as a center for education, he will also lay the groundwork for a planned NIT campus, a ?1,410 crore project close to IIT Patna, and a new civic enclave at Bihta airport.
PM's trip to Uttar Pradesh: Modi will travel to Uttar Pradesh on Friday at 2:45 pm to officially launch a number of projects. He will inaugurate and start projects in Kanpur that will cost about ?20,900 crore.
Among other projects in the state, the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro extension is a highlight. It is a part of a ?2,120 crore metro expansion with 14 additional stations, including five underground, connecting important parts of the city.
