May 30, 2025: According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, his nation is sincere about reviving activities under the Russia-India-China (RIC) framework.
The RIC troika has not been particularly active since the 2020 deadly standoff between the Indian and Chinese militaries in the Galwan Valley.
Lavrov was quoted by TASS as saying, "I would like to confirm our genuine interest in the earliest resumption of the work within the format of the troika—Russia, India, China—which was established many years ago on the initiative of (ex-Russian prime minister) Yevgeny Primakov, and which has organized meetings more than 20 times at the ministerial level since then, not only at the level of foreign policy chiefs but also the heads of other economic, trade, and financial agencies of the three countries."
In the city of Perm in the Ural mountains, where Europe borders Asia, the foreign minister was speaking at an international social and political conference on creating a single and equitable system of security and cooperation in Eurasia.
It appears to me that the time has come for the RIC troika to be revived. "As of today, as I understand it, an understanding has been reached between India and China on how to ease the situation on the border," Lavrov emphasized.
Additionally, he claimed that NATO is openly attempting to entice India to join anti-Chinese plots.
"I am confident that our Indian friends, with whom I have had private discussions, perceive this trend as something that can be considered a significant provocation," Lavrov stated.
