June 9, 2025: The petitions of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and DNA Entertainment Pvt Ltd contesting criminal charges against them in the stadium stampede incident will be heard by the Karnataka High Court on June 10th, the court announced on Monday.
Eleven people were killed in the stampede that took place on June 4 near M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

DNA Entertainment and RCB each submitted separate petitions on Monday contesting the FIRs against them.

The owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Royal Challengers Sports Limited (RCSL), has argued that it has been wrongfully named in the case.

The petition asserted that RCSL had made it apparent on social media that there were only a few passes available. Additionally, it stated that pre-registration was required for entry, even for free passes.
It claimed that a crowd surge occurred because stadium gates, which were meant to open at 1.45 pm, were only opened at 3 pm.

In the meantime, DNA claimed in its petition that the police's inability to control the crowd was the cause of the incident. Additionally, it stated that despite a growing crowd, the stadium was understaffed because the majority of police officers were stationed at the Vidhana Soudha.


On June 10, Advocate General Shashikiran Shetty asked the court to hear all of the petitions related to the stampede case at once. The court consented to allow time for objections to be filed.
