Aug 2, 2025: According to officials, an encounter with security personnel in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two terrorists.

Security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in a forest area near Akhal in the south Kashmir district after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists there.

The overnight encounter began there. According to the officials, the operation was put on hold for the night following a brief firefight on Friday evening. Additional reinforcements were rushed to the area as the cordon was strengthened.

According to officials, firing resumed on Saturday morning and resulted in the deaths of two terrorists. They went on to say that the operation is still going on and that the identity of the terrorists who were killed as well as their affiliation with a particular group are being determined.
