Aug 6, 2025: 10 Army personnel were reported missing from a camp in the lower Harsil region after a cloudburst brought about devastating flash floods in the Harsil area of the Uttarkashi district. At Dharali village, a crucial stopover for Gangotri pilgrims, widespread damage was caused by the cloudburst on Tuesday around 1.40 p.m. The army's commitment to protecting citizens during natural disasters is demonstrated by its active involvement in rescue efforts despite the fact that personnel are missing. At the location, the army, ITBP, NDRF, and SDRF have all been stationed, and rescue efforts are currently underway. The location has been reached by three ITBP teams. Several homes, hotels, and shops have been destroyed, with many more damaged. Teams are working tirelessly to rescue people trapped in the affected areas.
According to the Army's Surya Command, a massive mudslide struck the Dharali village in the Kheer Gad region on Tuesday afternoon, causing a sudden flow of debris and water through the community. "Troops of the Ibex brigade were immediately mobilised to undertake rescue operations," the army said.
