
Aug 7, 2025: LG Sinha expresses his grief over the tragic road accident. Officials reported that on Thursday, a vehicle carrying three members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) skidded off the road and crashed into a nallah in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, injuring 15 others. The incident took place around 10:30 am in the Kadwa area when the personnel were returning from an operation from Basant Garh. The vehicle belongs to the 187 battalion of the force.
The vehicle was carrying 23 personnel. On the spot, two employees perished, and 16 others were injured. They were evacuated to a hospital, where one more succumbed to injuries, taking the toll to three.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed his deep grief over the loss of lives of CRPF personnel due to tragic accident in Basantgarh area of Udhampur.
"Saddened by loss of CRPF personnel due to an accident near Udhampur," the Lieutenant Governor wrote on X. We will never forget their outstanding national service. My thoughts are with bereaved families. Praying for speedy recovery of injured. Directed senior officials to ensure best possible care and assistance”.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh posts on X, “Disturbing to receive the news of a road accident involving a CRPF vehicle in the Kandva–Basantgarh area. Several brave CRPF jawans were traveling in the vehicle. I have just now spoken to DC Ms. Saloni Rai, who is personally keeping an eye on the situation and updating me. Rescue measures have been initiated immediately. Locals have offered their assistance on their own volition. All assistance is guaranteed.
