Aug 11, 2025: The establishment of 105 Assistant Professor positions in seven brand-new Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in J&K has received approval from the government.

Each Medical College will receive 15 positions in a variety of fields, including anesthesiology, radiodiagnosis, community medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology, and biochemistry, according to a government order.

A total of 105 posts have been sanctioned, with 15 posts for each of the seven Medical Colleges in Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Handwara, and Udhampur, order read.

The move, according to officials, aims to increase medical education and healthcare services throughout Jammu and Kashmir and increase faculty availability in the new GMCs.
