Aug 18, 2025: He stated that Ladakh has the potential to become the most popular tourist destination in the world and is "far more beautiful than Switzerland." At a felicitation event held here by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Gupta stated, "Siachen and Galwan are being developed to promote tourism, thereby offering visitors a unique opportunity to witness the spirit of courage and sacrifice associated with Ladakh's frontier regions." He promised to promote adventure, spiritual, and religious tourism in Ladakh, positioning the UT as a complete tourism package that combines excitement, peace, and faith.
He claimed that the central government has given him the new job of leading the UT of Ladakh. He stated, "There are a number of challenges ahead of us, but I firmly believe that massive change will be witnessed in Ladakh in the coming years." He continued, "I am determined to ensure that Ladakh not only presents its breathtaking landscapes to the world, but also its rich heritage, vibrant culture, and traditions."
According to Gupta, Ladakh had been subjected to "neglect and discrimination" for decades; however, in August 2019, the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, granted the region the status of a UT, fulfilling the long-standing aspiration of its people.
He stated, "The Administration is working tirelessly, with the active support of the Central government, to upgrade infrastructure, improve connectivity, and promote eco-friendly tourism so that visitors from across the globe experience the unparalleled charm of Ladakh." He emphasized that his administration is dedicated to inclusive growth, enhanced infrastructure, and improved services while preserving Ladakh's fragile ecology and cultural heritage.
The L-G added, "Our vision is to build a sustainable and empowered Ladakh."
