Aug 19, 2025: On Tuesday, B Sudershan Reddy, a former judge on the Supreme Court, was named the INDIA bloc's candidate for the September 9 Vice-Presidential election.

Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Reddy was finalised as the Vice-Presidential nominee at a meeting of Opposition parties held on Tuesday morning at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Reddy's name was announced by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who stated that he has always advocated for constitutional principles.

To officially introduce the nominee, all Opposition MPs are scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building. Derek O'Brien, the leader of the TMC, said that the Aam Aadmi Party supports the decision as well.
On August 21, Reddy's nomination for Vice President will be submitted.
