Aug 28, 2025: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan, India's Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, stated on Thursday that several significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are anticipated to be signed and that the resulting documents will be released during the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. In an interview with ANI, George stated that the India-Japan relationship is anticipated to gain new momentum over the next decade as a result of this visit, which is based on a solid foundation of political, economic, and people-to-people ties. "They have already met once before. The Honourable Prime Minister has previously met Prime Minister Ishiba twice, once at the G7 Summit in Canada and the other at the Laos Summit. Since Prime Minister Ishiba took office, this is the first time the Prime Minister has visited. "As I mentioned, we have a series of important outcomes that we are working on during this visit," he stated. "This is an important annual summit." On August 29 and 30, 2025, PM Modi will travel to Japan at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. This visit coincides with the 15th Annual Summit between India and Japan, during which the two leaders will discuss a variety of aspects of their strategic partnership. George said that there will be several MoUs to be signed during the visit.

"I'm very happy to report that we will have a wonderful visit that will span the entirety of our relationships and give our relationship new momentum for the next ten years. He stated, "There will be a lot of MOUs signed, very important MOUs signed, and very important outcome documents released." said that every corner of Japan has an Indian touch, which shows the nature of the relationship between the two countries.

He also told ANI that Prime Minister Modi and Japan's then-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed an agreement in 2014 that established a global strategic partnership. "Our relationship can be built on a very solid foundation. "The Honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, and the then-Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Abe, entered into an agreement establishing a special strategic and global partnership for the relations between India and Japan ten years ago, in 2014," he stated. "We have been working towards building that partnership for more than ten years, and we can see that there is significant progress in every element of that relationship, at both the bilateral and plurilateral levels," he added. "We have been working towards building that partnership." George pointed out that bilateral ties between the two countries have grown stronger over time. "On a bilateral level, our political relationship is excellent. We have witnessed the evolution of our economic relationship over time.

Naturally, this is the India-Japan Year of Science, Technology, and Innovation Exchanges, and we are also celebrating. As a result, we have been working on each of these parts," he stated. In addition, he stated that the purpose of this visit is to evaluate the relationship.

Ambassador Sibi George emphasized that the Quad has a specific plan for promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and has made significant progress since its inception in 2004. "The entire spectrum of relationships is present in India's unique strategic and global partnership. It is multilateral, plurilateral, and bilateral in addition to being bilateral. So, in the plurilateral framework, QUAD is an important group of four like-minded nations who have come together with concrete, positive proposals to build a relationship for the Indo-Pacific region's peace, stability, and prosperity," he said.

The Quad's role in promoting peace and stability will be a topic of discussion at the summit, as will the geopolitical situation in the Indo-Pacific region. Therefore, when India and Japan, two significant Indo-Pacific leaders, meet, particularly in this geopolitical setting, they will discuss the entire range of geopolitical issues.
