12th JK science congress to be organized from march 02-march 04, 2017 by university of jammu and J&K science , technology and innovation council

About the Congress
Science and technology has been a driving force changing lives of millions of people world-over. We are standing on the interface of technological revolutions happening in various scientific disciplines. Emerging technologies and innovations are enabling the mankind to solve problems associated with hunger, malnutrition, climate change, diseases, biodiversity conservation, green energy, sustainable development and utilization of natural resources.

The 12th JK Science Congress is centered on the theme of

"Science and Technology: Emerging Trends and Innovations"

The congress will serve as a platform for scientific interactions focusing around the following sub-themes:

1. Innovative approaches in physical, chemical and earth sciences.
2. Advances and innovations in life sciences.
3. Advances in medical and other sciences and their impact on human well being.
4. Trends in development and application of IT and communications.
5. Innovative dimensions of mathematical and engineering sciences.
6. New vistas in the geospatial technologies.
7. Biodiversity evaluation, conservation and sustainable development.
8. Climate change, assessment of available technologies and need for innovation.
9. Environmental issues and their mitigation.
10. Policy issues for making science and technology affordable.

Activities
1. Several plenary, invited and technical sessions will be organized.
2. Renowned scientists/academicians of the country will be delivering key note address/plenary lectures/invited lectures in the congress.
3. The technical sessions will have presentations, both oral and poster, on specific scientific themes.
4. The congress is expected to host more than 700 researchers from various institutions of the state/country.
5. The congress will provide a wonderful opportunity for the young researchers to present their findings before the leading scientists/professionals of the concerned disciplines.
6. In each section best oral and best poster award will be given to young researchers.

Aims and Objective of the Congress

1. To provide a platform for scientific interaction.
2. To develop scientific temperament in the youth.
3. To disseminate information about latest developments in science and technology.
4. To provide an opportunity for young researchers of the State to interact with senior scientists for further collaborations.

Host Institution
The University of Jammu is a NAAC accredited A+ grade University established in the year 1969. The campus spreads over an area of 119 acres of land on the left bank of river Tawi. With 36 post graduate departments and seven research centers, seven operative offsite campuses at Bhadarwah, Udhampur, Kathua, Ramnagar, Reasi, Poonch and Kishtwar and more than hundred affiliated colleges, the University has become an epitome of higher education in the state of J&K. The University has developed world class research and infrastructural facilities including Wadia Museum of Natural History, Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani Museum of Heritage, Cactus Garden, Botanical Garden and Zoological Park.

About Jammu
Jammu is the winter capital of the State of Jammu and Kashmir of India. The city is situated along the banks of river Tawi in the foothills of Siwalik mountain range of Himalayas at an elevation of about 327 meters above msl. Also known as "City of Temples and Shrines", Jammu presents a perfect blend of harmony and rich cultural heritage.

Travel
Jammu City is well connected by air, train and road via Jammu-Pathankot NH44. The University of Jammu is at a distance of 2.5 km from General Bus Stand of Jammu city, 2.75 km from Jammu Tawi Railway Station and 5 km from Jammu Airport. Participants are requested to arrange their own travel and intimate their travel plan well in advance to the convener transport and accommodation.

Registration fee is non-refundable. The registration fee will include registration kit, meals and tea during the Congress. Conference kit will not be provided to accompanying person.
