Council releases Rs7 lakh for women’s ice hockey team

The J&K Sports Council today released Rs 7 lakh as financial assistance in favour of the Ladakh Women’s Ice Hockey Foundation through Leh Deputy Commissioner.
The team that will be representing the country in the Women Challenge Cup of Asia scheduled to be held at Bangkok in Thailand from March 5 to15.
Earlier, the approval was sought from the Minister for Youth Service and Sports and the funds were released today by the sports council secretary for the 22-member ice hockey team to undergo training at the international rink in Kyrgyzstan.
“We have released the funds for the betterment of the players and for enhancing sports as a career option,” Waheed-Ur-Rehman Parra, sports council secretary, said.
