Mega tulip festival in April

Secretary, Tourism and Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Shah today said 2017 would witness the mega tulip festival which will be part of ‘Bahaar-e-Kashmir’, event to showcase Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar.
The Tulip Garden has more than 20 lakh bulbs. The 46 varieties of tulips are spread in the backdrop of the mighty Zabarwan mountain range.
The Secretary announced that the festival would start from April 1 and continue for 15 days. He said the festival would witness decorated food and handcraft stalls and kiosks to showcase the rich craft and cuisine of the Valley.
Shah said that on the sidelines of the festival, an ‘Aalmi Mushaira’ would be organised which would see the participation of world famous poets who would enthral the audience with their poems. He said the event would be the first of its kind in the Valley.
The Tourism Secretary was accompanied by Director, Floriculture, Kashmir, MH Mir, Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Mahmood A shah, and Deputy Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Zahoor Peerzada.
Later, the Tourism Secretary had an interactive session with the staff of the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre and discussed with them various methods and strategies to improve the quality of services at the centre.
He asked the employees to work with zeal to ensure the delivery of quality services and maintain the international standard of the conference centre.
