University of Kashmir has figured in the top 100 universities in NIRF-2017

Srinagar : The University of Kashmir has figured in the top 100 universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF-2017), released by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Monday.

Officials of the University of Kashmir say that it is striving for better.

The NIRF outlines a methodology to rank academic, technology and research institutions across the country on the basis of standard parameters. The University of Kashmir has ranked 73rd (point score: 36.32) in the ranking system, in which about 3,000 institutions of higher education had participated.

The university has been evaluated on teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity and peer perception.

The NIRF was approved by the MHRD and launched on September 29, 2015.

The university is the highest seat of learning in the Valley. It offers more than 42 postgraduate courses and has more than 5,000 students on its rolls.

The University of Kashmir is the most sought-after institution in the Valley and is the first preference for aspirants when they have to go for higher studies.

“We have been progressing well. We are trying to get it to a much higher level. Our projects are going well,” said a senior official of the university.

Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the university and congratulated the team of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance for the achievement. “The university shall continue to strive to improve its credentials and work towards excellence,” the VC said.

Established in 1969, the University of Kashmir is situated at Hazratbal in Srinagar city.
