Jammu : It is going to be a proud moment for the state on April 19 as Wing Commander (retd) Rakesh Sharma, who created history by becoming the first Indian to enter space in 1984, will share memories of his journey from student life to space during a workshop-cum-motivational talk session with students of different schools.

The motivational talk of India’s first spaceman with schoolchildren is a part of the many activities to be organised by JK Public School (JKPS), Kunjwani, while celebrating 25 years in the field of education.
SK Singh, principal of the school, while briefing the media said the purpose of the session was to inspire, motivate and ignite young minds besides providing them a common platform to interact with the renowned cosmonaut.

“Besides sharing memories of his experience in space flight, Rakesh Sharma will also advise students about the qualities required for becoming an astronaut, importance of focus, discipline and commitment. It will be a rare unique opportunity for our students to meet the veteran astronaut and go through the journey of space,” the principal said.

The event will take place from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on April 19 at the Millennium Hall of the school where around 500 students and teaching staff of the school will participate. Further, 100 eminent personalities from different walks of life have also been invited to be part of the event. An invitation has also been sent to all educational institutes to send their students for the interactive session.
