The killing of three fire extinguishers and injuries to six others during a fire at a saw mill at Talab Tillo has raised questions over the safety of old buildings in the city. The firefighters were killed when an old three-storey building on the premises collapsed.

In Jammu city, which has seen mushrooming of colonies over the years, the government departments have no record of the safety audits of the old buildings.
