The Former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state has expressed concern over the slow pace of work in the construction of 500 housing units in the Valley for employees engaged under the Prime Minister employment package.

Girdhari Lal Raina, who is also a BJP leader, met Lt-Governor GC Murmu, urged the Union Territory (UT) Administration to speed up the construction of multi-storey housing units to accommodate employees. A majority of them belong to the minority Hindu community, who returned to Kashmir since 2010, under the Central package of rehabilitation.

“The deferment in return of exiled Kashmiri Pandits to Kashmir on one pretext or the other has dealt a serious blow to the aspirations of the community. There is need for speedy implementation of employment package that has got entrapped in bureaucratic red-tapism”, said Raina.
