Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a campaign on twitter amid protests in several parts of the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Using the hashtag #IndiaSupportsCAA, PM Modi has appealed to the people to support this campaign.

The Prime Minister has tweeted that India supports the citizenship law because citizenship law is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees and not about taking citizenship.

He wrote in his tweet that in the Vice section of the Volunteer module of the Mo app, check out this hashtag to see fun content, graphics and more. Use this hashtag to show your support for CAA.

Significantly, the citizenship law is opposed by almost all opposition parties including Congress, TMC. There were vigorous protests in the capital Delhi, UP, West Bengal, Bihar, Assam against this law. In UP, 19 people were killed in these demonstrations. There were violent demonstrations in Delhi as well.

After this tweet of PM, it is believed that the ruling government is also going to start a big campaign regarding this act. It is believed that the PM has started this campaign to tell the people about this act, not bowing down to pressure from the opposition.
