Amarnath yatra, only through chopper likely this time

Amid the pandemic crisis, plans are being made to conduct the Amarnath Yatra through helicopter this year. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has convened an important meeting of the Board to be held in the second week of July, in which the final decision on the yatra will be taken. The morning and evening Aarti will be broadcast live from the holy cave on Doordarshan from 5 July to 3 August.
According to board sources, a board meeting will be called between July 6 and 10. A final decision will be taken if 50 percent of the nine board members are present. Permission has also been given by the board to some community meal organizations near the base camp and the sacred cave.
This has been done because there are movements of other people along with the security forces at many places on the track.
Board sources said that in view of the corona virus crisis, all aspects related to the yatra are being considered intensively. In this, the health security of the passengers has been taken seriously, so that the plan for the pilgrimage be made in which there are limited passengers and the yatra is carried out in a simple manner.
For this point of view, the helicopter journey is being considered prominently. Meanwhile, the stir has increased in Jammu division as well. Divisional commissioners are constantly meeting with officials to review the preparations for the yatra.
On behalf of the Health Department, arrangements could be made for the passengers by removing the Covid Hospital in Bhagwati Nagar, the base camp of Amarnath Yatra in the coming days. This time the Covid test has been made mandatory for every pilgrim traveling.
